DRESS AND GROOMING
The District's dress code is established to teach grooming and hygiene,
prevent disruption, and minimize safety
hazards. Students and parents may determine a student's personal dress and
grooming standards, provided that
they comply with the following:
Dress Code
1. All leggings and stirrup pants must be worn with blouses that are at least fingertip length (arms extended straight down the side of the leg for measurement). 2. The ears are the only acceptable area in which pierced/body jewelry earrings may be displayed. (Male students may not wear earrings.) 3. Shorts, dresses, skirts must extend to fingertips with arms extended straight down the side of the leg for measurement. 4. Appropriate under-garments must be worn. 5. No see-through blouses or slacks. 6. No biker shorts, biker pants, or boxer shorts worn as outer garments. 7. No low-cut, backless, halter, midriff, tank, racer-back, or off-the-shoulder tops or evening outfits.* 8. No viewable cleavage is acceptable. 9. No sunglasses in the school building (unless doctor prescribed them in writing). 10. No hats, caps, hoods, or head-covering of any type may be worn in the building by males or females. 11. No apparel with suggestive, obscene, or inflammatory marking of any type (ex: rebel flag logos). 12. No beer, alcohol, or tobacco logos. No Beevus/B-Head, Big Johnson, Hooters, or Naked Coed apparel. 13. Shoes must be worn at all times. 14. No sweatbands or bandannas. 15. Pants must be worn at the waistline above the hips. 16. Pants should not be so baggy that the outer seams can touch in the middle between the knees. 17. No visible tattoos. 18. No clothing that is so tight that it can be considered revealing or in poor taste. 19. Tank tops, muscle shirts may be worn only as an outer garment over clothing that meets dress code. * 20. Belts, when worn, must be buckled. Overalls must be worn as they are intended to be worn. 21. Pocket chains shall not be worn. 22. Male students may not wear sleeveless shirts or tops. 23. Holes in pants/shorts/skirts/ must be below middle finger tip length with arms extended straight down the side of the leg for measurement. 24. Any other clothing or hairstyle considered inappropriate by the principal or assistant principal. **
Students wearing shorts out of dress code on the second occasion may be suspended from wearing shorts for the remainder of that semester.
*A tank top is defined by a top with less than 2” of width on the shoulder not including collar. A top that does not fall below the waistband of the lower garment or show skin around the waist area is considered a midriff top.
