I hope everyone is having a great week! I would like for you all to join me in congratulating the Faculty and Staff members of the Month for May. These outstanding team members have gone above and beyond the call of duty for the betterment of our district. If you see them in your hallways or on your campuses please congratulate them.
Elementary Faculty Member of the Month – Congratulations to Mrs. Keima Zapata, first grade teacher, on being nominated and selected as Elementary Faculty Member of the Month. Mrs. Petter, reading interventionist, states, "When asked about a student's reading skills, Keima Zapata knows exactly what that student can and cannot do. She keeps detailed notes about skills and she does running records to ensure her students are making appropriate progress. She truly understands the value of guided reading groups and you can tell she plans for them. She is a pro! I have recorded her reading notebook so that other teachers can see how she keeps it all organized. Keima is always willing to let me come in and she happily shares ideas with her team. When I have one of her students, I truly feel she is a "partner" with me teaching reading. Keima never gives up on a student! She is one of the elementary school's Master Reading teachers and you can tell! Mrs. Lambert, her partner teacher, states "I have known Keima for 11 years. She has so many wonderful attributes. She cares deeply for her students’ progress. Keima is always creating new and innovative ways to encourage good behavior and increase growth in her students. She is an excellent listener and problem solver. Because of this, many people go to her knowing they will be heard with patience, kindness and empathy." Congratulations to Mrs. Zapata. We are so grateful that she is a part of our elementary school!
Secondary Faculty Member of the Month - I would like to nominate Brandon Meyer for the Secondary Teacher of the Month. Coach Meyer teaches Government and Economics on the high school campus. Coach Meyer stands out thanks in large part to his ability to build positive relationships with the seniors that are in his class. Coach Meyer goes above and beyond for his students to insure they reach their greatest potential. Teaching seniors is not always an easy task; however, Coach Meyer makes it seem like a walk in the park. His principal stated “Coach Meyer is an outstanding teacher who takes care of business both in the classroom as well as on the field. He meets all of his deadlines and always does what is asked of him”. Coach Meyer is a team player who is always willing to help where ever he is needed. He does a great job in the classroom and even juggles the demands of being the head girls’ soccer coach with ease. China Spring High School is fortunate to have Brandon Meyer and he is certainly an asset to our team. Congratulations to Coach Meyer on the selection of Secondary Faculty Member of the Month!
Staff Member of the Month – Congratulations to Deena Webster, para-professional in Life Skills at the elementary school campus, for being nominated and selected as the Staff Member of the Month. Deena always goes above and beyond what is expected of her to make sure all students are happy, healthy, and have what they need to be successful. Deena builds relationships with her students and puts their needs first. She provides snacks for students out of her own pocket on a daily basis, plans and executes cooking activities in Ms. Gilley’s room at least once a week, and cares for our students like they were her own. She comes in with a positive attitude every day and goes straight to work. She is happy to do whatever is asked of her or she will create her own activity to help the students with what they are working on. She has brought so many opportunities for our class that we wouldn’t have been able to enjoy without her. Mrs. Webster isn’t afraid to try different teaching methods to allow our students to succeed and improve. She is a patient team player and a kind-hearted person. Deena anticipates my needs before I can voice them and takes care of what needs to get done for our students. She is such an asset to our classroom and campus! Congratulations Mrs. Webster!
