From tryouts in April, through camp and practices during June, and during performances during football season, each dancer is focused on one thing: competing.

With their last competition coming up on March 14 in Galveston, the team has approximately 14 more practices, about 35 more hours of practice, and almost 84 more drills of running through the routine.

The group will also compete at Burleson High School on March 1.
“We work on our competition pieces during practice,” captain, Shannon Spivey said. “It’s hard though because we always get off task from being practically ADD.”

The team practices from 2:30 to 5 p.m. every day after school. Within those two hours and thirty minutes that they have together, the team dances at least five or six times each day.

“We learn the dances in practice, and then have tryouts for them for the competition,” sophomore, Livi Harris said. “Tryouts help us out a lot because it shows whether the team is ready for competition or not.”

Every dancer has to tryout for each time the team performs, and not every girl always makes the cut.
