Senior Cody Fuller has been to the regional golf tournament for the past three years, but this year was special. He finally won the 17-3A district championship with a personal best two-round total of 149.

“It feels really good to know I have worked hard all four years of high school,” Cody said. “And it feels good to know that I’m the best my senior year.”

It has been a long road for Fuller, juggling football, baseball, track and golf the past three years. But this year he played only football, then devoted all of his time to practicing golf and it paid off.

Though it hasn’t always been Cody’s first choice to get on that golf course, sometimes he needs a little help.

“My dad is always telling me to get out to the course, and he is always the one playing with me,” Fuller said. “It’s always my goal to beat him, but that’s only happened about three or four times.”

Fuller said it wasn’t an easy road at district either. He had to come from behind in the second round.

“After the first day I was in third with a 76, so I knew I had to step up my game the next day to win. I ended up shooting a 73 to clinch the championship,” Cody said. “ I was so nervous going into that last hole.”
