Soccer is one of the newest additions to the athletic program. One game is left in the season, and China Spring will face Midway on Saturday, March 1.
Soccer practice started weeks before the end of football season but, Coach Floyd Holt decided to wait to play games until the football players could play. The season started out rough with a 6-0 loss to McGregor, but senior Clayton Finley said that the team is improving.
China Spring scored the first two points in its history with Jose Gonzales and Matt Hicks scoring against McGregor in the rematch between the two schools.
“I told you I’d score the first goal in China Spring history,” Jose Gonzales said, “I told you.”
Even with some setbacks, the team has fun.
“I liked playing in the games and messing around during the practices,” Finley said, “Even though it’s a rough start, the team is constantly improving.”
