Faculty and Staff Members for the Month of September

I hope everyone is having a great week! I would like for you all to join me in congratulating the Faculty and Staff Members of the Month for September. These outstanding team members have gone above and beyond the call of duty for the betterment of our district. If you see them in your hallways or on your campuses please congratulate them.

Elementary Faculty Member of the Month– Congratulations to Mrs. Beverly Cox, Stars Teacher at the Intermediate School, for being selected as the Faculty Member of the Month.  This adventure entitles her to wear many hats and serve in many different roles throughout the day. She works on appropriate social behavior for students, on six different grade level curriculum's, as well as is a counselor, a mother, a peace maker, a miracle worker, among others. She creates a place of love and acceptance while knowing her main goal is to get the students back into a general education setting where they no longer need her to control their behaviors. Her students say she “she helps me work through my anger,” “even on rough days, she still loves us,” and “she is awesome! She helps me make good choices and helps me to move up levels.”  Her co-workers say “Mrs. Cox sees the potential in each student. She knows their stories by heart and takes that knowledge to create a relationship. Her heart for the kids in here is obvious and she will be their advocate no matter how many times they slip.” Congratulations to Mrs. Cox!  We are so grateful that she is a part of our Intermediate School Family!

Secondary Faculty Member of the Month – Congratulations to Mr. Marc Nichelson, Director of Bands, on being selected as the Secondary Faculty Member of the Month.  He has a passion for music that is evident from the first moment that you meet him; more importantly, he has a passion for students.  He is a team player that is always willing to help out anyone including other programs such as having his students learn music for the Electric Blues Dance Team so they do not have to rely on other stadium sound systems.  Mr. Nichelson has built long lasting and positive relationships with his students in the short time he has been here and he always celebrates their successes. His leadership in our band program is second to none and he continues to build on the traditions of old as well as creating new ones for our band students. China Spring High School is lucky to have Mr. Nichelson serving our students in band and our students are lucky to have him as their director. Congratulations Mr. Nichelson on being the Secondary Faculty Member of the Month for September.

Staff Member of the Month – Congratulations to Courtney Lafferty, Library Paraprofessional at the Intermediate School, for being selected as the Staff Member of the Month for September.  Mrs. Lafferty is our choice for Faculty Member of the Month for many reasons. Her flexibility, her creativeness, her amazing organizational skills, always say “yes” attitude, and her Gaga refereeing abilities are what makes Mrs. Lafferty so wonderful!  Her colleagues say “just last week Mrs. Lafferty went out of her way to hunt down a book for one of my students who kept looking for it every time we went to the library but could not find it. She goes beyond actual library time to help students out.  Anything to keep them reading! Another faculty member stated “while the office staff is the face of the Intermediate, Courtney is the heart. Her office, aka the library, is in the center and she can always be seen with a smile helping students and staff alike. Whether it is checking out a book or filling in for recess duty, she is a gem! Working in a fishbowl where her every move can be seen would be overwhelming for anyone, but she greets everyone with a smile, even if it is a student making crazy faces from upstairs!” Courtney Lafferty has definitely made her mark at China Spring Intermediate School and we are so glad to have her! Congratulations Mrs. Lafferty!
