Our Community
China Spring was first settled around 1870 as cattle drives passed through the area going north. The trail that the drives followed was a route along the Brazos River. On this route were various water stops, one of which was a spring by a group of chinaberry trees. China Spring was named for this favorite watering hole. China Spring is located approximately 11 miles northwest of Waco. It is a rural community that includes farmland and several large cattle ranches. Numerous subdivisions and country estates are intermixed with the farmland. China Spring residents are friendly people who value and support the education of their children. In addition to being conveniently located in Central Texas on major highways, the China Spring area is blessed with wildlife. The area is popular with outdoor enthusiasts. Other area recreational opportunities include a golf course, country club, Lake Waco, Lake Whitney, Cameron.
