Cannon Earp is entering his 13th year in education, and his second year as the girls coordinator, head girls basketball and golf coach at China Spring ISD. Earp previously coached at Grapeland, Fairfield, Hudson, and Sulphur Springs before joining China Spring ISD .
Earp is married to his wife, Samantha, and they have four future China Spring Cougars: Mallory, LJ, Josie, and Cannon Earp Jr.

Leslie Coltrain
Leslie Coltrain joins the China Spring family as the head volleyball coach. She is entering her 25th year as an educator and brings a true passion for the game. Coltrain and her husband, Khalil, have two children. Their daughter, Emma, is a senior at Baylor and their son, Camden, is a freshman at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Before taking the reins at China Spring, she coached at La Grange, Tomball and Magnolia West. Coach Coltrain is very excited to build on the program's successes and help lead the Cougars into a new era.

Jessica Elkins
Jessica Elkins is entering her 13th year as a teacher and coach at China Spring ISD. This year she is teaching science at China Spring Middle School and serving as the head cross country, head girls track coach and middle school girls basketball coach.
Upon graduation from China Spring ISD, Elkins attended Sam Houston State University where she studied early childhood education. She is married to her husband, Kyle, and they have two children.

Avery Fulton is entering his sixth year as an educator and coach. Fulton teaches world geography and serves as the head tennis coach for fall and spring tennis.
Fulton is married to his wife, Taylar, and their daughter Laura Jane is a pre-kindergarten student at China Spring Primary School, and they have a future Cougar, a one-year-old boy named Foster.

Coach Cody Harvey is entering his 12th year with China Spring ISD. He serves as the district's speed & strength coordinator, head powerlifting coach, and linebackers coach. A graduate of Magnolia High School, he played football and basketball at Mary Hardin-Baylor before serving as a graduate assistant football coach at UMHB and a Sports Performance Intern at Stanford University. He has been married to his wife, Meghan, for 11 years, and they have two children, Cade (9) and Landri (5). Coach Harvey enjoys spending time on the lake and watching his children compete in various activities.

Valerie Smith is in entering her sixth year as a head coach and her fourth season at China Spring ISD. Honored as District Coach of the Year in 2014, Smith's coaching reflects a commitment to excellence and a positive impact on her athletes.
Valerie's journey in sports began at Carlsbad High School in Carlsbad, New Mexico, where she first showcased her soccer talents. She continued to refine her skills at the University of the Southwest (USW), where she both attended and played soccer, laying the foundation for her future coaching career.
Smith is married to her husband, Jeff, and they have two children. Their daughter, Raelynn, is set to start her sophomore year at Hill College this fall, where she continues her soccer career. Their son, Peyton, is a senior at China Spring, actively participating in both soccer and track.

Kayleigh Teakell
Kayleigh Teakell is starting her second year as the head softball coach for the Lady Cougars, as well as an assistant volleyball coach.
As a student-athlete at West High School, Teakell was a 4-year varsity softball player and was part of the 2016 3A State Championship team. She also competed in other sports like basketball, track and field, and volleyball. After high school, she went on to attend Tarleton State University on an academic scholarship to study to become an educator. While at Tarleton, Teakell volunteered at Connally ISD as an assistant softball coach where she helped lead the 2022 team through three rounds of playoffs. After graduating from Tarleton in 2023, she became the assistant softball coach at China Spring ISD.
Kayleigh is married to her husband, Tanner. Together, they have one little cougar, Devyn Jayne. She cannot wait to bring the wisdom that she has learned from previous coaches and the skills and knowledge that she has gained from playing, to the athletes at China Spring ISD.

Coach Jefferson is in his 11th year of coaching and education, joining the Lady Cougars as an assistant basketball and track coach. He has served on the girls and boys side of coaching basketball. He has a background of teaching physical education and health as well as serving as a strength & conditioning coach. He is a former collegiate basketball player. He has been married to his wife Adrianna for 11 years and they have four kids; Jazzlyn, Bryce, Jada, & Bambie.

Brad Kennedy will be entering his sixth year at China Spring ISD and brings over 12 years of coaching experience to China Spring athletics. He has coached multiple sports at China Spring including softball, volleyball, football, baseball, basketball, and track while serving the past two years as head softball coach.
Kennedy graduated from Naaman Forest High School in Garland, TX, and is a proud alumnus of Stephen F. Austin State University and Tarleton State University. He has built a distinguished career marked by numerous accolades, highlighted by achievements such as:
2016 State Champion as an assistant softball coach at West High School
2017 State Champion as a head softball coach at Bishop Louis Reicher Catholic High School
2017 Super Centex Coach of the Year in 2017.
Kennedy is married to his wife, Angela, and they have two children. Their son Jack will be entering his freshman year at China Spring High School, and their daughter Claire will be entering first grade at China Spring Primary School.

April Leatham
April Leatham is excited for the changes her 6th year at China Spring ISD brings. A four-sport athlete from Colorado, she attained a coaching minor and certification in college. After spending the last several years cheering on the Cougars and her children from the stands, April is excited to get back on the sidelines. She will be joining the coaching staff for volleyball and girls’ basketball. April is married to Jeremy Leatham and together they enjoy traveling, reading, and the chaos and adventures that their five amazing children start. Tal will start college at UT in Austin this fall, while Tennyson, London, Emerson, and Rosalyn will continue their education as Cougars here in their hometown.

Corbin Parnell
Born and raised in the Waco area, Coach Parnell graduated from Texas Tech University and is excited to begin her first year teaching 7th and 8th grade science. She is passionate about creating a hands-on, engaging classroom where students can explore scientific concepts and develop critical thinking skills. In addition to teaching, Coach Parnell coaches volleyball and track, supporting students both inside and outside the classroom. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, sports, and baking.

Jennifer Atkinson Wyble
Jennifer Atkinson Wyble is starting her 21st year overall and her fourth year at China Spring as the assistant tennis coach. She teaches reading intervention and Reading Language Arts at China Spring Middle School. Wyble has 16 years of experience in tennis, both competing and coaching.
Wyble began teaching and coaching tennis in her hometown of Marble Falls, Tx, where she played varsity as a freshman and was on the varsity tennis team from 1986-1990. When she graduated she was ranked 5th in Tx, USTA Championship G18 Singles and earned a tennis scholarship to University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB). At UMHB, Wyble competed in the NAIA National Championships 1992, 1993, and 1994. She was All-Conference First Team & named All-American in 1992 achieving a National Ranking of 10th in NAIA Women’s Doubles. Her UMHB tennis team was ranked 21 in the nation.
Wyble is married to her husband, Dale, and they have three sons: Jayson, Will, and Colin, all graduates of Midway ISD.
