The following information was released to all parents/guardians on April 24, 2025.
All China Spring ISD Families,
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has released the 2023 accountability ratings for the 2022-23 academic year. The academic accountability system has undergone significant changes, which are impacting accountability ratings for school districts across Texas, including China Spring ISD.
China Spring ISD received an overall B (85%) academic rating for 2023. This rating was determined using a new accountability system and the redesigned STAAR 2.0 assessment, both of which significantly changed how performance is measured across the state. More information about changes to the TEA accountability system can be found on the China Spring ISD website.
Parents/guardians can access the China Spring ISD campus and district accountability ratings on the TEA accountability website.
We continue to emphasize, this rating is only one measure of the work we do, and it does not accurately define the progress and learning happening every day in our classrooms. Since these changes were announced in 2023, we have already made intentional adjustments to support continued student growth and success. I want to assure you that we continue to outperform many school districts across the state. To see how China Spring ISD compares to other districts statewide, you can view our Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR), available through the TEA website or linked on our district website. This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, and staff.
In light of the significant changes to the TEA accountability system, Executive Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Kristen Dutschmann, has prepared a video summarizing changes to the accountability system. I encourage you to review this resource as it provides valuable insight into the accountability changes and their impact on accountability ratings.
China Spring ISD is fully committed to helping students continue to achieve academic success, while also emphasizing that accountability ratings are just one component of the educational experience. We look forward to another strong academic year.
