The following message was released to all parents/guardians and staff on December 18, 2025:
All China Spring ISD Families and Staff,
I am pleased to announce that Josh Gregory has been appointed as the new head football coach for China Spring High School. Coach Gregory currently serves as the district's athletic director and will continue in that role as he assumes the combined position of athletic director/head football coach, a structure that has long served our district well. He brings experience and a record of success in high school football, along with an understanding of the China Spring community, our student-athletes, and the expectations that define our athletic programs.
Coach Gregory began his career with the China Spring High School varsity football team in 2002, and he served as offensive coordinator from 2013-2015. During that time, the program achieved a state finalist appearance, a state semifinal appearance, four regional finalist honors, and 12 consecutive years of playoff appearances. After his initial tenure in China Spring, he served as offensive coordinator at Cedar Ridge High School from 2016-2020. There, his teams achieved five straight playoff appearances, three district championships, and a 6A Division 1 state semifinal appearance, while leading an offense ranked No. 1 in the Greater Austin area for four consecutive seasons.
Coach Gregory returned to China Spring in 2021 as the district's athletic director. Under his leadership China Spring ISD has celebrated three state championships, two in football and one in baseball, as well as three state semifinalist teams in baseball and tennis. Additionally, China Spring has been recognized in the Lone Star Cup Top 10 for overall excellence in academics, athletics, band and fine arts. These accomplishments reflect his strong leadership, focus on program development and commitment to helping students succeed on and off the field.
To ensure that all student-athletes, coaches and athletic programs are supported throughout the year, we are expanding the athletics leadership team with the addition of Cannon Earp as assistant athletic director. He will work closely with Coach Gregory to support programs across the district while continuing his role as the district's head girls basketball coach and head golf coach. Coach Gregory will provide more details about how the assistant athletic director will partner with him to support programs when we return from break in January.
Please join me in congratulating Coach Gregory and Earp on their new roles. I look forward to seeing China Spring ISD athletics continue to grow and achieve success across all programs.
Best,
Marc Faulkner, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
China Spring ISD
