The UIL is responsible for overseeing athletic, music, and academic conferences in the state of Texas. This organization seeks to create fair competition among schools in Texas and provide guidelines for competitions and eligibility requirements. Reclassification and realignment by the UIL is an ongoing effort to support fair competition and balance among schools of similar sizes. This process occurs every two years.
