China Spring ISD Teacher Incentive Allotment Application Approved

The Texas Education Agency has approved China Spring ISD's application for the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) program, resulting in 46 district teachers expected to earn a designation during the district's first year of participation.

More than $600,000 in state funding is expected to be generated for TIA allotments; 90% of the funds will go to the educators who are expected to earn a designation and 10% will be used by the district to cover TRS benefits and fees for the designated teachers.

China Spring ISD was approved to award designations after completing the state's application and review process, which evaluates teacher performance using classroom observations and student academic growth data.

TIA designations are reserved for the state's highest-performing educators: Recognized teachers are in the top third, Exemplary teachers rank in the top 20%, and Master teachers are among the top 5% statewide, based on classroom performance and student growth.

"We know high-quality instruction is taking place in our classrooms," said Dr. Marc Faulkner, Superintendent of Schools at China Spring ISD. "We are thrilled for these teachers to receive this well-earned compensation and to be recognized for their commitment to student growth and effective teaching practices."

TIA was created by the Texas Legislature to reward highly effective teachers and encourage them to remain in the classroom. The program also provides additional support for teachers working in high-needs schools and teaching high-needs subject areas.

In China Spring ISD, teacher designations are determined using a combination of classroom observation data and student growth outcomes.
