China Spring Names New Elementary Principal

The China Spring ISD Board of Trustees has approved the appointment of Kari McNew as principal of China Spring Elementary School for the remainder of the current school year and the 2026-27 academic year.

McNew has nearly a decade of experience in education, including four years as assistant principal at China Spring Elementary and most recently serving as interim principal since mid-February. During her time as assistant principal, she led professional development initiatives, supported curriculum development and strengthened relationships with parents and families at China Spring ISD. As interim principal, she has provided steady leadership, maintaining high-quality instruction and supporting both staff and students.

"China Spring Elementary School is a special place," said McNew. "I am honored to continue serving our students, families and staff. I look forward to building on the great work happening on our campus and supporting the growth of all our Cougars."

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Marc Faulkner praised McNew's leadership. "Mrs. McNew brings proven experience and a deep commitment to student and staff success," Faulkner said. "She knows our campus well and has demonstrated her ability to lead effectively and support the academic success of all students."

McNew will begin her role as principal effective immediately.
