China Spring ISD has named Dr. Leslie Smith as Deputy Superintendent of Leadership, expanding her role in supporting district operations, employee development and long-term planning.
Dr. Smith enters her 10th year with China Spring ISD and her eighth year as member of the district's administrative team. She previously served as assistant superintendent, where she oversaw employee relations, personnel, recruitment and hiring, curriculum, instruction and assessment, and the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) program.
Throughout her tenure, Dr. Smith has played a key role in several district initiatives. She led the implementation of the TIA program, which designated 45 teachers during its first year and generated more than $600,000 in state funding for designated teachers.
In addition to her work with TIA, Dr. Smith has strengthened employee support systems through enhanced district benefits and the development of a staff wellbeing program focused on physical and mental health. She also provides leadership for district staffing and supports more than 400 employees across China Spring ISD.
Dr. Smith provides leadership for the district's curriculum and instruction programs, helping China Spring ISD continue working toward strong academic outcomes for students across campuses.
As deputy superintendent, she will continue overseeing these areas while taking on additional responsibilities focused on leadership development, organizational growth and long-term planning.
