China Spring ISD has hired Martin Flores as the district's new chief of police. Flores will begin his role on July 20 and will oversee safety and security efforts across the district.
Flores brings 15 years of experience in public safety, criminal investigations and community protection. He joins China Spring ISD from Connally ISD Police Department, where he served as a police sergeant. His previous experience includes serving with Baylor University's Police Department and the McLennan County Sheriff's Office, where he served as a deputy sheriff and member of the SWAT team.
Throughout his career, Flores has been recognized for his commitment to protecting others. He received a life-saving commendation from Baylor University Police Department and was commended for bravery during an active shooting response from the McLennan County Sheriff's Office.
Flores is bilingual in English and Spanish and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Tarleton State University.
"Chief Flores brings proven experience in law enforcement and understands that relationships are a key part of school safety. Building trust with students, staff and families allows our officers to become trusted members of the school community. His experience connecting with students and supporting a positive school environment will strengthen the safety and security efforts already in place across our campuses," Superintendent of Schools Dr. Marc Faulkner said.
China Spring ISD continues to prioritize the safety and security of students staff by having a dedicated police officer assigned to each campus. As chief of police, Flores will support safety and security across the district and will be based at China Spring Middle School
