China Spring ISD Board of Trustees: July Meeting Summary

The China Spring ISD School Board met on Monday, July 21, 2025 at 6:00 pm. China Spring ISD campus leaders shared how they are preparing to welcome students and families back to school for the 2025-26 academic year.

At China Spring Primary School, Principal Ashlee Duncan shared that more than 50 families attended the school’s recent Popsicles with the Principals event. Held at the campus playground, the event provided an opportunity for parents to ask questions and get to know the leadership team ahead of the first day of school.

Middle school Principal Dr. Nancy Dominguez outlined how her team is working to ensure a smooth start for students as they transition between classes and grade levels. She shared that the master schedule has been adjusted to create more balanced class sizes and that the school’s Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) has been updated to reflect the unique needs of middle school students who rotate through different teachers. “We’re working to continue building on the great things already happening in this community,” Dominguez said.

Dr. Nick Smith, Executive Director of Special Programs, announced a new resource to support teachers and students receiving special education services. A previously existing position has been re-allocated to serve as a special education instructional coach, someone who will work directly with teachers to strengthen instructional strategies and provide hands-on support in the classroom.

The Board also approved the adoption of an updated cell phone and smart device policy. In compliance with the new state law and expanding on current personal device policy, China Spring ISD has updated the cell phone and smart device policy for the 2025-26 school year. The new rules apply to all personal devices, including cell phones, smart watches and any other communication devices not issued by the district. This policy helps the district create learning environments with fewer distractions and ensures CSISD is in full compliance with state law. More information about the new policy and how it will be implemented can be found on the district website at www.chinaspringisd.net.
