China Spring ISD Board of Trustees: October Meeting Summary

The China Spring ISD School Board met on Monday, October 20, 2025 at 6:00 pm.

Each month, faculty and staff are recognized for their outstanding contribution to the students at CSISD. These educators are nominated by their campus principals and confirmed by the administration team. Educators are recognized at the School Board meeting and presented with a plaque. Teachers and students from the district's STEM Engineering Career and Technical Education program showcased the innovation taking place inside China Spring High School's engineering classrooms.

Teacher Brendan Smith was joined by his students to demonstrate the first robotics project designed and built entirely at China Spring ISD, without a manual or set of rules. The team will represent China Spring ISD at its first robotics competition on October 30.

"We are giving students experiences they can't stop talking about," Smith said. "It's our goal to be at the world championships one day."

Chief Financial Officer James Slater presented results from the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) report. For more than two decades, China Spring ISD has earned an "A" for Superior Achievement, the state's highest rating for financial management and reporting. The district received the top score, reflecting its strong commitment to fiscal responsibility and transparent financial practices. Read more about the FIRST report here.

Assistant Superintendent Dr. Leslie Smith provided an updated on the district's implementation of the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) program. The district has submitted data for its first cohort of eligible teaching assignments. If validated by the state, China Spring ISD anticipates awarding designations to approximately 46 teachers, resulting in an estimated $660,000 in incentive pay.
